Best Answer: as it ages, a lead acid battery [car battery] loses dimensions, it also gets a coating build up on its plates [its called sulphating] the larger surface area covered by the sulphate, the better the internal resistance the battery gets! this does not [at first] affect the lower powered items in the sports car - such as the radio / cockpit light etc but it does affect the high current things such as cranking over the engine and later, the headlights. bring back the battery changed before it leaves you stranded - you can keep it for a while for powering a coup¨¦ radio in the garage or for electrical appliances in a caravan etc
