There are several reasons. The MPAA doesn't have control of countries outside of the US. The Internets reaches more than the US. People wallow in piracy and find new mediums to do it. Mediums that are harder to catch race for sharing

Best Answer: ^file sharing be never illegal. it IS illegal when COPYRIGHTED material is distributed over folder sharing networks. there are hundreds of ways and places to get movies and tv shows and music on the internet- some examples: p2p networks, torrents, usenet, irc, rapidshare.de The MPAA isn't fast adequate to catch the people who do pirate stuff. It's pretty commonplace actually. The MPAA 'cracking down' doesn't anticipate anything. Its like having one really inept police officer for a city of 2 million. everyone the officer doesn't (and can't) see gets away near it.
