How graceful is it to install satellite TV wires myself?

I have 1 DirectTv line running into my house currently and need to append two more (one for each box). Tell me how and what I need.

How quickly is internet that you achieve...

You need low loss RG-6 and be careful you don't crimp any of that. You'll need a separate output from the dish LNB, NO splitters.

Dear Kit, Get some verbs on 'F connectors' Rubber weather boots - you'll see them on your existing system UHF Low Loss Coaxial Cable with loss 4.6dB/10metres at 1GHz - I use RG59B/U at 30euros/100m reel. A book on domestic satellite aerial installation can be bought contained by a "2nd Hand shop for 10Euros or borrowed from your college or Public Library. Be careful with the twist on F sockets as they come contained by a number of sizes. Choose your cable first then order the connectors. Once up and running - waterseal everything and include drip loops on the ends of cable. Cables should be replaced every 10years as water enters them and has a totally high dielectric constant. Good Luck. CopyLeft:RufusCat

Best Answer: Is your dish a "phase III" dish? (does it have 3 little lenses on it or a moment ago one?) If it's got 3 lenses then it's probly got 4 cable-ports on it (just remove the 2 screw at the bottom of the LNBF & it pops right off, there's your cable ports right there). Run a seperate, independent cable for each receiver...no splitters (you can enjoy straight splices, but not "splitters"). Recommend you use a "dual ground block" to provide a grounding point for both cables (pick one up at Home Depot or snag one from some cable guy; RadioShack is WAY expensive for this stuff). Just keep your connections clean. If you use the little screw-on F-connectors, product sure the braiding and foil (negative/ground) NEVER touches the center wire (positve)....that would mean a short; and while it won't hurt you, it just won't function. Now... if you enjoy an older dish with just one little lens on it, after your LNBF is gonna have just 1 or 2 ports. If one port only, afterwards buy a new one with 2 ports. If you've got 2 ports ("dual LNB") afterwards you run 2 cables into a "3X4 switch" (disregard the center input port unless you'r also trying to wire-in an over-the-air antenna). This is NOT a splitter!..it's different, and it will provide you 4 output ports so you can support up to 4 receivers. 3x4-Switch just works beside the old-school single-lens dish. Relax, keep it simple, and good luck :)
