AIG is a "lottery ticket" kind of stock. The company is bankrupt. The stock is essentially worth 0 and I expect adjectives shareholder equity will be eventually wiped out. But who knows for sure what's going to happen beside the gov't intervention. If an investment in AIG works out it should pay off really well.

investing in fiberoptics and technology related stocks is really good right now, because technology is simply going to increase. AIG is probably not a good thing to be investing in right immediately, i wouldnt advise it.

i've studied warren buffet, ben graham, and other investors for years and my understanding is just starting to come full circle. Invest within companies that have products that you like. Warren Buffet drinks coke, so he bought coke (there's other reasons involved but thats the short of it!). If lone I knew that in the beginning, the simple answer is really the best.
